Reiner back for DGA duty

Helmer returns for 18th consecutive year

Carl Reiner will return as emcee for 18th consecutive year for the 56th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday at the Century Plaza Hotel.

The slate of presenters for the event includes Academy Award nominees Patricia Clarkson (“Pieces of April”), Djimon Hounsou (“In America”), Samantha Morton (“In America”), Sean Penn (“Mystic River”) and Naomi Watts (“21 Grams”).

Rob Marshall, who won the DGA Award for directing “Chicago” last year, will present the award this year. Nominees are Sofia Coppola (“Lost in Translation”), Clint Eastwood (“Mystic River”), Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), Gary Ross (“Seabiscuit”) and Peter Weir (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”)

Other presenters include Sean Astin, Maria Bello, Gilbert Cates, Russell Crowe, Kristin Davis, Buck Henry, Christine Lahti, Laura Linney, Tobey Maguire, Garry Marshall, Janel Moloney, Dan Petrie Sr. and Elijah Wood.
