Singleton, Wahlberg tee up for 'Four'

Paramount Pictures has set director John Singleton and is negotiating with Mark Wahlberg to star in revenge tale “Four Brothers.”

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the pic, slated for a January start.

Studio is eyeing Ice Cube and Frankie G to round out the cast.

Scripted by David Elliot and Paul Lovett, the drama centers on four adopted brothers who come together to bury the woman who raised them. The siblings discover at the funeral that their mother may have been murdered.

Singleton is attached to Paramount’s Midway videogame adaptation “Fear and Respect.” “Four Brothers” would come first, and the film is expected to be on Paramount’s release schedule as quickly as next summer.

Pic becomes the second Par project to have Wahlberg as its centerpiece. He’s also in talks to reprise his starring role in a sequel of “The Italian Job.” Wahlberg just reteamed with his “Three Kings” helmer David O. Russell in “I Heart Huckabees.”
