Co. reshuffle to coincide with Wilkinson's departure
SYDNEY– Nielsen EDI Australia managing director Peter Wilkinson retires Sunday after 28 years in the film biz.
Wilkinson started as company secretary at Columbia Film Distributors (which later formed a co-venture with Fox), rising to managing director. Beginning in 1991, he was Columbia’s VP and Far East supervisor.
A week after he retired from Col in 1998, he was snapped up by Nielsen EDI to launch its overnight B.O. tracking service in Oz. Most distribs and major chains relied on the Motion Picture Distributors Assn. of Australia’s twice-weekly figures. Gradually he won them all over, and Nielsen EDI’s coverage now exceeds 99% of the daily B.O.
In a reshuffle coinciding with Wilkinson’s departure, manager of operations Simon Burton has been upped to general manager of Nielsen EDI Australia. Nielsen BookScan business manager Kirsty Ward will expand her responsibilities to take on the new role of general manager, Nielsen Entertainment Australia, encompassing Nielsen BookScan and Nielsen EDI.
