Arranger to conduct Acad's orchestra

Harold Wheeler will be conductor-arranger at the 76th Oscars, marking his first time conducting the Academy Awards Orchestra.

Wheeler has extensive credits as a Broadway conductor, has composed and arranged many film scores, and has worked as orchestrator and musical director on a slew of TV events, including “The People’s Choice Awards,” Emmys, Grammys and “American Film Institute Awards.”

Marc Shaiman is working on Billy Crystal’s special musical material for the Oscarcast.

Oscars will be held Feb. 29 at the Kodak Theater. Producer is Joe Roth.
