GOOD MORNING: And it’s hopefully a good morning for Vincent D’Onofrio, star of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” Producer Dick Wolf said the actor has a 7 ayem call today on the set at Chelsea Piers, having been released from the hospital over the weekend. Wolf, who spoke to D’Onofrio in the hospital, says an MRI report returned Monday was “clear.” The company had shuttered for one day when the series’ lead thesp was hospitalized following a series (four) of faintings. Wolf said he was suffering from “exhaustion” and characterized the lead role in this drama series as “the worst job in show business — a 14-hour work day for nine months.” Of all three Wolf series, he said, “no one has a tougher schedule than Vincent.” He called reports of fights on the set as “ludicrous” … Jackie Dinorsio, a defendant in the longest mob trial in history, whose life story is being filmed as “Find Me Guilty: The Jackie Dee Story,” died Monday, producer Bob DeBrino reported. “Can you believe it? He was shot five times, had cancer, lived through a jail sentence — and survived.” Cause of death, DeBrino said, was kidney failure. The producer obtained the rights from reputed mobster Dinorsio five years ago when Dinorsio was serving a prison term for racketeering. The film stars Vin Diesel and is directed by Sidney Lumet … “National Treasure” exec producer Charles Segars reports a screening of the film Sunday night at the Rotunda of the National Archives was so effective, the head archivist of the Declaration of Independence sent added security to guard the real document in D.C. Director Jon Turteltaub and Jerry Bruckheimer took bows for the pic’s applauded realism … Ann Robinson, who starred in the 1952 “War of the Worlds” for George Pal, got a call from Steve Spielberg to play a role in the current version as Tom Cruise’s mother-in-law and Miranda Otto’s mother, filming in Brooklyn.IT’S GREAT TO START a film — and it’s great to finish one” — and he should know. Michael Caine has started and wound four in a year and last weekend wound the final one, “Bewitched,” and winged home to England. He says he has no plans to work again until March. Wanna bet? Seriously, he says he’s going to write his second book. (His first was called, “What’s It All About?”) The next one is anecdotal and he’s got plenty, particularly from his last experience, “Bewitched.” “This is the only time I worked only with women.” They are cast members Nicole Kidman as his daughter, Andorra played by Shirley MacLaine (with whom he costarred in “Gambit”), Kristin Chenoweth, director Nora Ephron, writers Nora and Delia Ephron. Caine said Nora showed the cast the pilot of the TV series before starting the feature and also included the series’ creator Bill Asher in a scene. Talking about “What’s It All About? (Alfie),” I asked Michael if he’d seen the new version of “Alfie” with Jude Law starring. He did and calls it “very entertaining — and so different.” He’s looking forward to working with Law in the remake of “Sleuth,” but hasn’t seen how Harold Pinter has devised their respective roles. “Everyone’s remaking my movies,” Caine laughed. “Every actor (like Law) has his own film company. I have no company. I just like to act and go home at 7 o’clock. I’m always happy that way.” Of the four paternal roles, he reminds he has played Christopher Walken’s father in “Round the Bend,” Mike Myers’ father in “Austin Powers in Goldmember,” Nicolas Cage’s father in “Weather Man.” WILL YOU MISS all this?” I asked Sherry Lansing as we made our way into the packed Palladium Sunday night for the post-party of “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie”? “At first, she said, “No!” then quickly changed to “yes!” One thing’s certain: We will miss her — whether at a screening, preem or any industry function in which she always enthusiastically participates. This event was particularly effective — also thanks to Along Came Mary Micuci’s giant kid party for the pic with food, games, music, gifts, etc. etc. David Hasselhoff was getting an enormous charge from the 4-year-olds’ adulation. Imagine — “Knight Rider” and “Baywatch” to “SpongeBob.” They were lined up tugging at him for autographs. “I have a whole new legion of fans,” he beamed. “Imagine coming from resucuing Pamela Anderson to costarring with a sponge.” And before the kiddie pic, he appeared in “Dodge Ball” and John Waters’ “A Dirty Shame” in a far out scene in the bathroom of a plane. P.S. David’s now busy working on feature versions of “Baywatch” and “Knight Rider.” … Jeffrey Tambor, who voices King Neptune, was also enjoying the excitement of being in a kid movie — as he readies to return to B’way in April for the first time in 30 years, costarring in David Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross.” His last time in the B’way world was in “Sly Fox.” WOLFGANG PUCK COOKED a special fundraiser dinner for the Bill Clinton Presidential Library at Ron Burkle’s last week. And Sunday afternoon, Wolfie was back at his BevHills eatery signing copies of his book, “Wolfgang Puck Makes It Easy.” He certainly makes it all seem easy. He has been busy criss-crossing the country signing-selling the book, which is already in its third edition. He’s readying a new, different cooking TV show — this time incorporating youngsters in the kitchen. He already has a following of them. Among those Sunday was Jacqueline Bisset. We kiddingly reminded visiting her on the Paris set of “Who is Kiling the Great Chefs of Europe?” with some of the great chefs on camera … Monday night, Ali Kasikci, general manager of the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel, was named Independent Hotelier of the World by Hotelier Magazine, voted by fellow hoteliers and the presentation at the Palace Hotel. And today, for the 12th consecutive year, the AAA’s Five Diamond Award was announced for the BevHills’ Peninsula and its Belvedere restaurant receiving, for the 10th year, the AAA’s Five Diamond Award for hotel restaurant.
