The Tribeca Film Festival has secured a splashy kid-friendly centerpiece for this year’s Family Festival sidebar, with a special screening May 4 of Warner’s upcoming comedy “New York Minute,” starring Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.
The Olsen sisters and director Dennie Gordon will attend the Tribeca event, which precedes the film’s national release May 7.
Produced by Denise DiNovi, Robert Thorne and the Olsens, pic follows one eventful day in the lives of two 17-year-old sisters — one a hyper-organized overachiever, the other a laid-back punk-rock rebel — as they journey together from their Long Island home to New York City, tailed by an overzealous truant officer.
“Mary-Kate and Ashley have made a film that truly shows New York and its greatness and is a perfect fit for the Family Festival,” said Tribeca fest co-founder Jane Rosenthal. The family fest last year showcased “The Lizzie Maguire Movie,” with star Hilary Duff making an appearance.
The third Tribeca fest runs May 1-9 at a series of Lower Manhattan locations. The family fest unspools over two weekends, May 1-2 and May 8-9.
