Nu Image digs ‘Hole’ earlier than planned

Lerner moves 'Black' to Nov. 28

Avi Lerner’s Nu Image has moved production of its feature “Black Hole” from early 2005 to Nov. 28 — less than two weeks from now — due to a slew of foreign presales at this year’s AFM.

Pic was sold to Star TV in Asia, Bridge Rights in Benelux, Swen in Brazil, Metropolitan in France, Kinowelt in Germany, Art Port in Japan, Scanbox in Scandinavia and Filmax in Spain.

Danny Dimbort, head of foreign sales and a partner at Nu Image, said sales were up 25% for the company from this year’s Cannes market.

“Hole,” budgeted at $3.5 million, will be shot in St. Louis. Pic stars Kristy Swanson and Judd Nelson in a tale about an experiment at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island that goes horribly awry, resulting in the formation of a black hole on Earth.

Pic is part of Nu Image’s deal with the Sci Fi Channel. Producers are Boaz Davidson of Nu Image and Ken Badish of Active Entertainment.
