BERLIN — “A Map of the Heart” helmer Dominik Graf will direct “Roter Kakadu” for X Filme.
Manuela Stehr of X Filme is producing the pic, written by Michael Klier and Karin Astroem.
Daniel Bruehl (“Good Bye Lenin!”) will star as one of the three leads. Film, which takes place in 1961 in the East German city of Dresden weeks before the building of the Berlin Wall, revolves around a real-life underground jazz and rock ‘n’ roll club called the Roter Kakadu (Red Cockatoo).
Production shingle Seven Pictures and TV channel Sat 1, subsidiaries of broadcasting group ProSiebenSat 1, are co-producing the film, which will shoot this summer on location in Dresden and the surrounding area.
X Filme distrib arm X Verleih is releasing the pic domestically.
