Johansson, Hunt proove to be 'Good' choices
SANTA MONICA — Lions Gate Films has picked up North American rights to Mike Barker’s “A Good Woman,” starring Scarlett Johansson and Helen Hunt. Pic bowed at the Toronto Film Festival.
Adapted by Howard Himelstein from the Oscar Wilde play “Lady Windemere’s Fan,” the romantic comedy concerns a seductress who lures away a younger woman’s husband.
Producers are Mark Albela, Jonathan English, Alan Greenspan, Himelstein, Denise O’Dell and Steven Siebert. Liam Badger, Mikael Borglund, Hilary Davis, Michael Dounaev, John Evangelides, Duncan Hopper and Jimmy de Brabant are exec producers.
Lions Gate has also picked up North America on “Alone in the Dark,” Uwe Boll’s feature adaptation of the Sega videogame that stars Christian Slater, Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff. Pic will bow Jan. 28.
Written by Elan Mastai, Michael Roesch and Peter Scheerer, pic focuses on a paranormal detective who unravels potentially deadly events.
Shawn Williamson produced the film. Boll and Wolfgang Herold are executive producers.
