‘Imelda’ shoo-in for Unitel

Sundance doc opens next month

Unitel Pictures has acquired U.S. and world theatrical rights to Ramona S. Diaz’s doc feature “Imelda.”

Winner of best cinematography in the nonfiction category at Sundance, doc is a profile of former Philippine first lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos.

The film chronicles Marcos’ rise to prominence through archival footage from news and home movies as well as interviews with opponents and loyalists.

Pic will run at Gotham’s Film Forum June 9-22.
