Germany the only major territory still unsold on pic
MADRID — Twentieth Century Fox has taken pan-Latin American rights to Alejandro Amenabar’s Venice honoree “The Sea Inside” in a deal inked with sales company Sogepaq.
Agreement continues Fox’s strong run in acquisitions for Latin America on major Spanish-language and Latino-themed films such as “Before Night Falls,” “Bad Education” and “Talk to Her.”
After the deal, Germany is the only major territory still unsold on the film, which took the Jury Grand Prize and the Volpi Cup for actor (Javier Bardem) at the Venice Film Festival this month.
Fine Line acquired North American and all other English-lingo territory rights to “Sea” in late July in a deal reportedly worth more than $5 million.
With a 24-day, $14.3 million cume through Sept. 26, “Sea” is the highest-grossing Spanish release this year.
