COLOGNE — Hamburg’s film funder, FF Hamburg, allotted E2.1 million ($2.8 million) to nine TV and film productions at its December session.
It awarded the largest amount, $920,000, to “Die drei detektive und das geheimnis der geisterinsel” (The Three Detectives and the Secret of Ghost Island), the first live-action version of a successful mystery novel series for children. Helmer will be Florian Baxmeyer, whose two-part event TV movie “Das Blut der Templer” (The Blood of the Crusaders) debuts this week.
The other bigscreen production being supported is “Lapislazuli,” also a family entertainment pic, helmed by Wolfgang Murnberger and starring Kai Wiesinger.
A TV documentary on the devastating Hamburg flood of 1962 will also get coin. The docu is an accompaniment to the fictionalized event movie on RTL TV, which is being filmed by Teamworx in co-operation with Jan Mojto’s Eos.
Next year, the funder’s annual budget of $10.6 million will be cut by 20%.
