Century Theaters said Tuesday it plans to build a 12-screen multiplex in the Bay Area city of Hayward.
Alameda County move dovetails with San Rafael exhib’s enthusiasm for projects keying on downtown revitalization projects. Circuit also operates theaters in downtown areas of northern California’s Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, San Mateo and Redwood City markets.
“We’ve been very successful in all of our downtown projects,” observed Raymond Syufy, chairman-CEO at Century.

Multiplex will be part of a Cinema Place restaurants and retail center, being developed by Blake Hunt Ventures.
“We believe Cinema Place will be a catalyst for the renaissance of downtown Hayward,” said Brad Blake, CEO of Blake Hunt.
