‘Emile’ bound for Castle

Bessai wears many hats in production

HOLLYWOOD — Castle Hill Prods. has picked up U.S. theatrical rights to Carl Bessai’s “Emile,” starring Ian McKellen and Deborah Kara Unger. Pic will preem Jan. 7 in New York’s Quad Cinema, with a Los Angeles release to follow.

In “Emile,” a British professor travels to Victoria, B.C., to receive an honorary degree and to reconnect with his only living relatives, who hold the key to his tragic past.

Pic is Bessai’s third feature on which he served as writer, director, producer and cinematographer.
