DreamWorks seeing ‘Red’

Novick to produce script by TV scribe

DreamWorks has bought the script “Red Eye” by TV scribe Carl Ellsworth and is gearing up for flight.

Mason Novick will produce the pic, about a woman held captive on an airplane. Her captor threatens to kill her father unless she helps him arrange the assassination of a wealthy businessman. Studio calls it “Phone Booth” on a plane.

Deal was made for $250,000 against $500,000.

DreamWorks execs Mark Sourian and Marc Haimes will oversee the project.

“Red Eye” is Ellsworth’s first feature project. His extensive TV credits include episodes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Cleopatra 2525.”

Novick also is producing “Y: The Last Man” with Benderspink at New Line. The team is also at work on an untitled Mark DiStefano Sherlock Holmes project, also at New Line.
