D-cinema launch set with ‘Robot’

World Brief

Danish major Nordisk Film will introduce digital cinema here with Friday’s launch of Will Smith starrer “I, Robot.”

Copenhagen’s largest cinema, the Imperial Bio, has been equipped with a K2 projector. Auditoriums in Copenhagen’s Palace and Aarhus’ BioCity also will be furnished with digital installations for the Sept. 3 launch of “Shrek 2.” The three digital screening rooms total 1,744 seats.

“Having closely followed the technical development, we are convinced that the quality of digital screenings is now better than using traditional 35mm format,” said managing director John Tonnes, of Nordisk Film Cinemas, the country’s leading exhibitor, with 14 venues.
