Awards recognize films, TV that affirm human spirit

“In America,” “Seabiscuit,” “Secret Lives: Hidden Children & Their Rescuers During WWII” and “The Station Agent” are among the films to be presented with Christopher Awards at the 55th annual ceremony, to be held Feb. 26 at the Time-Life Building.

Kudofest acknowledges feature films, books and television programs that “affirm the highest values of the human spirit.”

Bill Moyers’ PBS miniseries “Becoming American: The Chinese Experience,” HBO’s “Unchained Memories: Readings from the Slave Narratives” and ABC News 20/20 seg “Cheerleader: Born Differently” are among the TV and cable programs that will be honored.

Documaker Ken Burns will pick up his sixth Christopher for PBS/WETA’s “Horatio’s Drive: America’s First Road Trip,” about Horatio Nelson Jackson’s journey that paved the way for the U.S. interstate highway system.
