Veep still reports to prexy Jacobson

Marcia Ross has been promoted to executive vice president of feature casting for the Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group.

Ross will continue to oversee all aspects of casting from working with studio execs and producers to creating cast budgets to hiring and supervising independent casting directors for all live-action feature films.

She will continue to report to Nina Jacobson, president of Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group.

“Marcia has been an integral part of the motion picture team,” said Jacobson. “She has an amazing eye for matching talent with material.”

During her tenure at Disney, Ross has overseen the casting of well over 200 films, introducing such new talent as Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Jennifer Garner, Spencer Breslin and Anne Hathaway.

She has served as casting director on “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” “The Princess Diaries,” “The Recruit,” “Disney’s The Kid,” “101 Dalmatians” and “The Haunted Mansion,” as well as on upcoming pics “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” and “Mr. 3000.”

She also supervised independent casting directors in the casting and production of pics including “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Pearl Harbor” and “Under the Tuscan Sun.”

Before joining Disney in 1995, Ross headed her own company, Marcia Ross Casting.

Previously, from 1988-93 she was VP of talent and casting for Warner Bros. Television, where she oversaw casting of pilots and primetime series including “Murphy Brown” and “China Beach.”
