Roth, helmer Hanson will co-write poker pic

Eric Bana will star in “Lucky You,” to be directed by Curtis Hanson for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Production is expected to begin in Las Vegas early next year on the drama, which is set in the world of high-stakes professional poker. Pic is based on an original screenplay by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth, with additional writing by Hanson.

Hanson produces with his partner, Carol Fenelon, and Denise DiNovi.

Bana most recently starred as Hector opposite Brad Pitt in Warners’ “Troy” and is set to star in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming “Vengeance.”

The Australian Bana was introduced to international audiences in “Chopper,” which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. He also starred in “The Hulk” for director Ang Lee, and was part of the ensemble cast of Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down.”

Hanson recently wrapped “In Her Shoes” for Fox 2000. Pic stars Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette and is slated for an April 15 release.
