'Guardian' thesp joins Nakata-helmed pic
HOLLYWOOD — Simon Baker has been cast in the role of Max, opposite Naomi Watts, in DreamWorks’ horror sequel “The Ring 2.”
Pic is being directed by Hideo Nakata, the helmer behind both of the original Japanese “Ring” movies.
DreamWorks’ Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing.
Roy Lee is serving as executive producer, and Benderspink’s J.C. Spink and Chris Bender are co-executive producers. The first “Ring’s” Neal Edelstein and Mike Macari are also on board as exec producers.
Mark Sourian is overseeing the film for the studio.
This is Baker’s third season playing Nicholas Fallin on CBS’ legal drama series “The Guardian.”
On the feature film front, he recently starred in the Sundance pic “Book of Love,” written and directed by Alan Brown.
