ARP rules over ‘Queens’ in France

AFM Briefs

Leading French distrib ARP has closed all rights to France on the Fortissimo-sold “Reinas” (Queens), Fortissimo’s first Spanish-language pickup.

ARP principals Michele Halberstadt sealed the deal via phone Monday evening with Laurent Petin and Fortissimo co-chairman Wouter Barendrecht.

Directed by Manuel Gomez Pereira, “Queens” is an early production of Warner Bros.’ Spanish production arm, Warner Bros. Production Spain. Penned by Pereira with his long-term writing team Joaquin Oristrell and Yolanda Garcia Serrano, pic depicts the preparations for the first mass gay wedding in Spain.

Warner Bros. plans to release the film in Spain in July.
