Daniel Burman’s “A Torn Hug” (Un abrazo partido), Argentina’s entry to the foreign-language Oscar race, leads a recent crop of Argentine films at the third edition of Argentina New Cinema.
Sponsored by the Argentine Consulate General event will take place at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, from Friday to Sunday. Event pays homage to Oscar-nominated composer-musician Lalo Schifrin on Friday.
Helmers Burman, Hector Olivera and Jose Luis Massa and actress Natalia Oreiro (“Cleopatra”) are among the Argentine luminaries expected to attend.
Other pics include Alejandro Agresti’s latest look at the calamitous effects of dictatorship, “Un Mundo menos peor” and Olivera’s portrait of former first lady Eva Peron’s brother, Juan Duarte, in “Ay, Juancito.”
