Acad taps kudofest trio

AMPAS scores two newbies and offers a promotion

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has appointed two staffers and upped a third.

New membership administrator Thomas Thanangadan will oversee the review of prospective members and supervise invitations and tickets for the Academy Awards.

The former UFA Intl. creative-affairs exec replaces Torene Svitil, who was promoted to awards coordinator and will oversee submission and voting processes for several awards categories, including docus, shorts, animated films and foreign-lingo films.

Former entertainment journalist Howard Loberfeld was named credits coordinator, responsible for gathering, editing and maintaining film credits to determine awards eligibility. Loberfeld replaces Patrick Stockstill, who will remain with the Academy as historian and statistician.
