Special to include Keaton, Eastwood, Law interviews

CBS News’ primetime newsmag “48 Hours” and Entertainment Weekly have teamed up to produce a pre-Academy Awards special that will air tonight on the Eye at 10 p.m.

Hourlong show marks the first time CBS has aired such an Oscar special, as well as the first time the network news division has collaborated with magazine EW.

“On the Road to Oscar” will examine what it takes to make a film worthy of an Academy Award through interviews with actual nominees — as well some of those shut out of this year’s race, including Nicole Kidman (“Cold Mountain”) and Tom Cruise (“The Last Samurai”).

Newsmag special will include interviews with Diane Keaton, actress contender for “Something’s Gotta Give”; Clint Eastwood, director, “Mystic River”; Jude Law, actor, “Cold Mountain”; and Renee Zellweger, supporting actress, “Cold Mountain.”

Special also will feature an interview with director Vadim Perelman, whose debut feature, “House of Sand and Fog,” is up for three Academy Awards.
