“Everwood” thesp Emily VanCamp is in final negotiations to play the young female lead in DreamWorks’ horror sequel “The Ring 2.”
VanCamp joins Naomi Watts, David Dorfman and Simon Baker in the pic, being directed by Japanese helmer Hideo Nakata. Sissy Spacek will have a minor role in the film.
Shooting begins next month.
DreamWorks’ Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing. Roy Lee is executive producer, and Benderspink’s J.C. Spink and Chris Bender are co-exec producers. The first “Ring’s” Neal Edelstein and Mike Macari are also on board as exec producers.
Mark Sourian is overseeing the film for the studio.
VanCamp plays Amy Abbott on the WB’s “Everwood,” which is going into its third season.
On the feature film front she appeared in the Sundance film “Lost and Delirious” and is in the upcoming Lions Gate pic “A Different Loyalty,” with Sharon Stone.
