Musicvid and commercials helmer Andrew Douglas will make his feature directing debut on MGM and Dimension Films’ remake of “The Amityville Horror.”
Thriller, expected to begin production in July, is skedded for release Jan. 14.
No thesps have yet been cast.
Scott Kosar (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remake) penned the script.
Douglas, who is repped by commercials outfit Anonymous Content, has helmed spots for advertisers including Hewlett-Packard, Lexus, Nissan, Audi, the U.S. Army and Celebrity Cruises. He also shot musicvids for band Lighthouse Family.
He’s the latest commercials helmer to make the leap to directing features, following Zack Snyder (“Dawn of the Dead”), Francis Lawrence (“Constantine”), Kevin Bray (“Walking Tall”) and Marcus Nispel (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre”).
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, which scored a hit with the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” redo, will produce the “Amityville Horror” remake with company co-heads Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
Radar Pictures’ Ted Field is also set to produce.
