Forman, Kaczmarek score special honors
NEW YORK — The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures will present special awards to auteur Milos Forman and composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek at its annual gala, to be held Jan. 11 in Gotham.
NBR unveiled its yearly best-of list Dec. 1, crowning Miramax Films’ “Finding Neverland” as best picture.
Forman will receive the org’s Billy Wilder Award for excellence in direction. Helmer previously received NBR’s freedom of expression honor for “The People vs. Larry Flynt.”
Kaczmarek has been tapped to receive the NBR’s film music composition award for his contributions to “Neverland.”
Founded in 1909 to support excellence and free expression in film, the highbrow NBR has no commercial ties to the entertainment industry. Its annual best-of list is viewed, however, as an awards season indicator in the race to the Oscars.
