‘Stepford’ steps off with best-trailer trophy

'Elf,' 'Rings,' 'Potter,' 'Dawn' also nab statuettes

“The Stepford Wives” took home triple honors at the fifth annual Golden Trailer Awards Tuesday at downtown L.A.’s Orpheum Theater.

Paramount’s summer comedy claimed wins in the most original and summer 2004 blockbuster categories and was ultimately crowned best of show.

Other winners included “Elf” (comedy), “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (drama), “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (animation/family), “Dawn of the Dead” (horror), “The Cooler” (romance), “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” (action), “Lost in Translation” (independent), “Osama” (foreign), “City of God” (foreign independent) and “Spellbound” (docu).

Trailers for “21 Grams” and “The Triplets of Belleville” were recognized for their voiceover and music work, respectively.

Winners were selected by a panel of industry judges including Benicio Del Toro, Neil Jordan, Glenn Close, Bob Osher and Drew Giordano.
