Spanish Screenings to Feb.

70-80 execs expected

MADRID — The American Film Market’s move to November has displaced another mart from its usual fall spot.

To avoid an AFM overlap, Spain’s biggest dedicated film showcase, Lanzarote’s Winter Spanish Film Screenings, has moved from its November/December dates to Feb. 24-26.

Taking place next year a week after the Berlin Film Festival (Feb. 10-20), the sixth Screenings will place a larger emphasis on attracting single territory distributors and TV acquisition execs from outside Europe, said Screenings director Teodoro Rios.

Event will again be based at Lanzarote’s Gran Hotel Melia Salinas. Some 70-80 execs are expected, according to Rios.

As in previous editions, three Spanish films will world preem in gala events.

Other films will unspool at a nearby cinema or in digital screenings rooms at the hotel or will be available from the Screenings’ DVD library.
