Russian exhibs big on Imax

Theater in Suvar expected to open in November 2005

MONTREAL — Imax Corp. announced Thursday that it has inked a deal with Russian exhibitor Suvar-Kazan Company to install an Imax theater system in a new multiplex in the Russian city of Kazan. Suvar is the third Russian exhibitor to sign a deal with Imax this year.

“The Nescafe Imax Theater in Moscow has posted great results showing blockbuster movies in the Imax format, and we believe this has paved the way for other commercial Russian exhibitors to join our theater network,” said Larry O’Reilly, executive vice president of theater development at Imax.

The Imax theater in Suvar is expected to open in November 2005 at a four-screen multiplex entertainment center that will also include a water park and restaurants.
