'Simpsons' scribe set to make 'Super' effort
Regency Enterprises has bought spec comedy “Super Ex” from Emmy-winning “Simpsons” writer/co-exec producer Don Payne and set it up with producer Gavin Polone through his Pariah shingle.
Story centers on a man who discovers that the woman he’s dating is a superhero and then decides to break up when she becomes too needy and manipulative. She then uses her superpowers to turn his life into a living nightmare.
“Very rarely do I read a script that makes me laugh out loud, but this one did on every page,” Polone told Daily Variety.
Payne is in his seventh season at “The Simpsons” and has won three Emmys during that stint.
Regency exec VP Kara Francis will oversee “Super Ex” for prexy of production Sanford Panitch.
