Producers Ronald Shusett and Daniel Alter have optioned feature rights to Jordan Raskin’s upcoming Image Comics series “Industry of War.”
The duo will produce through their respective shingles, Ronald Shusett Prods. and Alter Ego Entertainment.
“Industry of War” centers around undercover government agents hunting down missing military technology before it falls into the wrong hands.
Story for the first miniseries revolves around a former gang member paroled from prison who stumbles across a bio-symbiotic prototype suit designed for foot soldiers and programmed with an assassination mission during the Gulf War.
“It reads like a high-concept Jerry Bruckheimer action-thriller, but with a sci-fi twist,” Alter said.
Shusett will co-write the screenplay with Raskin, best known for Top Cow’s “Ripclaw” series. Shusett co-created Fox’s “Alien” franchise, was a producer on “Total Recall” and exec produced “Minority Report.”
“Not only is the concept franchise-able, but the two main characters whose job is to lead the track-and-retrieve operations for these lost items are deep enough to sustain further installments,” Shusett said.
Alter is developing other projects based on Image Comics series, including a feature adaptation of “Sword of Dracula” and a TV show based on “Small Gods.”
Shusett and Alter recently partnered to develop space opera “2176,” with Thunder Levin and George Saunders penning the story of 13 planetary colonies rebelling against Earth.
The two met while Alter was repping comicbook properties for management/production concern Energy Entertainment.
