Nathanson gets a ‘Girlfriend’

Helmer comes aboard pic after Thomas, Waters ankle

HOLLYWOOD — The Mouse House has caught up with “Catch Me If You Can” scribe Jeff Nathanson, inking a deal for him to helm “The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.”

Scribe had most recently made his helming debut on the Mouse’s Matthew Broderick and Alec Baldwin starrer “The Last Shot,” which he’d also co-written. He has just finished a polish of the “Ghosts” draft.

Original scribes on the project are John Lucas and Scott Moore.

Warner Bros.-based producer Jon Shestack is producing, with management and production shingle Benderspink exec producing.

Disney almost pulled the trigger on the film previously with Ben Affleck attached to star and Betty Thomas to helm. Subsequently, Mark Waters (“Freaky Friday”) was also attached to helm with Lindsay Lohan set to star. None is involved with the project anymore.

“Ghosts” is about a bachelor who attends his younger brother’s wedding, at which he is visited by spectral girlfriends of his lothario past.

Mouse House senior veep of production Brad Epstein will oversee development on the pic, on which the studio plans to begin casting shortly. Before Nathanson can begin lensing on “Ghosts” for Disney, he must first finish up a draft of Par’s long-awaited fourth “Indiana Jones” franchise.
