Miramax ups Gatineau

Taking charge of Euro acquisitions

Miramax Films has promoted London-based exec Maeva Gatineau to senior VP of acquisitions, overseeing European acquisitions activity.

She will report to exec VP of acquisitions and co-productions Agnes Mentre. Director of European acquisitions Emil Elmer and director of acquisitions Chiara Trento, both U.K.-based, will report to Gatineau.

“Maeva has been instrumental in the success of the acquisitions department at Miramax,” Mentre said. “Her relationships in Europe and her flawless taste make her an asset to the company.”

Recent acquisitions in which Gatineau played a key role include Scottish drama “Dear Frankie,” which screens here in Un Certain Regard; and last year’s Cannes laureate and Oscar winner “The Barbarian Invasions.”

She also was instrumental in Miramax pickups of Japanese swordplay saga “Zatoichi” and French period drama “Les choristes.”

Gatineau joined Miramax’s U.K. office seven years ago. Most recently, she was VP acquisitions.
