Film is based on 'Net game, centers on a strike by elves
Miramax Films has taken North American TV and home entertainment rights to toon pic “The Great North Pole Elf Strike,” which is being made by Chris Walker’s Modern Cartoons.
Based on the popular Internet game of elf bowling, “Elf Strike” centers on a strike by North Pole elves who decide to decamp to the South Pole but get waylaid in Fiji.
Walker plans to produce the film at a Fiji animation studio, to open in August, said the Fiji Audiovisual Commission.
Project was brought to Miramax by Jeff Tahler, VP of acquisitions. David Miercort, senior VP of business affairs, negotiated for Miramax.
The “Elf Strike” deal underscores Miramax’s push into family entertainment.
