Oestreich will bring in new projects, oversee prod'ns

Yael Oestreich has been promoted to VP of development at Maverick Films, the production shingle founded by Madonna and Guy Oseary in 2001.

Still reporting to Maverick Films prexy Mark Morgan, Oestreich will be responsible for bringing in projects and shepherding Maverick’s existing slate.

She also oversees Maverick’s inhouse producers. Films in development include “Rodeo Girl,” for Fox; “My Sassy Girl,” for DreamWorks; “Twilight,” with MTV and Paramount; and a remake of the South Korean horror pic “Phone” for Focus.

Before joining Maverick last year, Oestreich was a development executive at Mosaic Media Group and had previously worked in development at Doug Liman’s Hypnotic banner. She began her career as an assistant at MGM and at Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley’s Simian Films.

Maverick’s recent credits include MGM’s “Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London,” starring Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff.
