Market attendance up 11%

1,275 films, 55 trailers booked for screenings

Attendance at the Cannes Film Market was up 11% on its opening day, with 7,225 participants registered from 63 countries as of Tuesday.

The number of movies also has risen. There are 1,275 films and 55 trailers already booked for screenings, compared with 1,214 films and 47 trailers presented in the market last year.

More than 40% of this year’s movies are in English, with 18% in French and 5% apiece in Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.

Japan has provided the biggest surge in attendance, with 359 participants registered.
