Media 8 Entertainment, the indie financing and production shingle that recently produced “Monster,” has come aboard to produce, finance and distribute family comedy “Lovewrecked,” penned by Stephen Langford.
Pic, to be directed by Randal Kleiser (“Grease”), is a co-production of Media 8 and Bacon and Eggs, the production shingle owned by Lance Bass, Wendy Thorlakson and Joe Anderson.
Film will begin production in June in the Caribbean, with casting expected shortly.
Story concerns an 18-year-old who’s ecstatic when she finds that her favorite rock star, Jason, is a guest at the tropical resort where she is working for the summer. They are both thrown overboard during a cruise and stranded on a remote beach — but she fails to tell him the beach is just down the road from the resort.
“This project is a great vehicle for a teen star, and the concept and comedy will appeal to all ages,” said Sammy Lee, vice chairman of the board for Media 8.
“Lovewrecked” is the “only script out of literally hundreds I have read this year that made me laugh out loud, perhaps because I know firsthand how passionate fans can be,” Bass said.
