Lightning strikes ‘Tunnel’ rights

Pic, helmed by Canuel, tells tale of heist-minded Talon

Lightning Entertainment has acquired international sales rights to French-Canadian crime caper “The Last Tunnel.”

Pic is based on the events surrounding the 1993 heist of the Bank of Montreal. It charts the path of career criminal Marcel Talon, who organized the robbery to end all robberies: With his crack team of experienced felons, Talon dug a tunnel through the Montreal sewer system to the bank.

Pic has grossed $1.5 million since its recent opening in its home province of Quebec.

Directed by Erik Canuel, pic stars Michel Cote, Jean Lapointe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Nicolas Canuel and Sebastian Huberdeau. Pic was produced by Pierre Gendron and Christian Larouche and exec produced by Carole Vaillancourt.
