Japanese will ‘Brave’ WWII

Criswell producing Nishikawa-script through Koncept

Jason Scott Lee and Tamlyn Tomita star in “Only the Brave,” a WWII drama now in production under the direction of Lane Nishikawa.

Nishikawa-scripted pic is based on a true story of a Japanese-American regiment that fought its way through German lines in France, saving 211 trapped soldiers of the Texas 141st. Nishikawa portrays the unit’s leader.

Karen Criswell is producing through Koncept Films. Nishikawa is the executive producer, with Eric Hayashi and Jay Koiwai as co-exec producers.

The film is funded in part by grants from the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program, through private equity and by donations from families of veterans of the 100th Battalion/442nd Regimental Combat Team.
