PARIS — Gallic film “L’Apres-midi de Monsieur Andesmas” (The Afternoon of Monsieur Andesmas) will open the Cannes Film Festival’s Intl. Critics Week on May 13, organizers said Friday.
Pic, based on a story by Marguerite Duras, is the first feature from director Michelle Porte, a longtime collaborator of the late French author-helmer.
The film stars veteran Gallic thesps Miou-Miou and Michel Bouquet. Pic produced by MK2, tells the tale of a man and a woman in the South of France who briefly come together to escape their solitude. The 43rd incarnation of the Intl. Critics Week, headed this year by French New Wave helmer Jacques Rozier, will announce its full lineup Thursday.
