Indie Circle buys ‘Pobby’ for Euro territories

Most ot the distrib group has also bought HBO's 'Sellers'

Euro buying alliance Indie Circle has picked up Peter Cattaneo’s Australian Outback drama “Pobby and Dingan” for distribution in Benelux, Switzerland, France and Italy.

Indie Circle is made up of Belgium’s Cineart, A-Film from the Netherlands, Switzerland’s Frenetic Films, France’s Haut et Court and Italy’s Lucky Red.

All those distribs, with the exception of Haut et Court in France, also have acquired HBO’s Cannes competition entry “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers” for their respective territories.

“Pobby and Dingan,” sold by Renaissance Films, is a rite-of-passage tale told through the eyes of an 11-year-old boy. It shoots in Australia this summer.

Indie Circle launched as a buying alliance at last year’s Cannes, where it acquired Siddiq Barmak’s “Osama.” It has since bought a handful of titles, including “Take My Eyes,” “Paradise Now” and “Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down.”
