IFC has signed on as an official presenting sponsor of the Hamptons Film Festival, giving the event national television exposure for the first time in its 12-year history.
In addition to presenting IFC docu feature release “Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession” as part of the fest’s Spotlight Films series, the indie film cabler will celebrate its 10th anniversary as host of the Hamptons’ annual awards ceremony gala Oct. 23, parts of which will be televised.
“IFC is not only our presenting sponsor but also our media partner, assuring national exposure for the festival and the participants,” said fest exec director Denise Kassell.
IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring has been a fest board member for the past several years, while Kathleen Dore, president of IFC umbrella company Rainbow Entertainment Services, was honored at last year’s fest. A number of IFC features have screened at the Long Island event in recent years, including “Pieces of April,” “Intermission,” “The Safety of Objects” and “Lost in La Mancha.”
While IFC’s sponsorship is for the 2004 edition, Dore indicated she expects the relationship to continue into the future. IFC has been steadily increasing its industry profile with splashy events in recent years at the Cannes, Sundance and Toronto fests and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Programmed by Rajendra Roy, the Hamptons fest runs Oct. 20-24.
