Tale of door-to-door salesmen penned by Tepper
New Line Cinema has given the greenlight to the Ray Romano-Kevin James comedy “Grilled,” with Jason Ensler in the director’s chair for his feature helming bow.
Written by William Tepper, “Grilled” (aka “Men Don’t Quit”) is the story of two friends who team as door-to-door salesmen. If they don’t find a way to move bulk quantities of frozen beef, they’ll be dead meat (Daily Variety, Feb. 20).
Ensler previously directed the TV movie “Martha, Inc.: The Story of Martha Stewart” and “Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of ‘Three’s Company.’ ”
Producers are Jon Klane, Brad Jenkel, Tepper, Jeff Sussman and Rory Rosegarten.
James will segue to “Grilled” from his current shoot, “The Last First Kiss,” in which he stars opposite Will Smith.
Romano starred in “Welcome to Mooseport” and in “Eulogy,” which Lions Gate Films will release this fall.
