Robert Harper, vice chairman of 20th Century Fox, has been promoted to vice chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Move was announced jointly Wednesday by Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman, co-chairmen of Fox Filmed Entertainment.
With his promotion, Harper assumes global strategic, creative and managerial responsibilities for all of Fox Filmed Entertainment, concentrating particularly on creating interdivisional synergy.
In a joint statement, Rothman and Gianopulos praised Harper as “a marketer, strategic thinker and leader” and an exec who “has been an invaluable resource to both of us.”
Harper has helped preside over three consecutive, record-breaking years at Fox, with the studio raking in more than $2 billion in worldwide box office in 2004.
Harper joined the Fox marketing department in 1985, rising to prexy of the department in 1989. He then became an independent producer based on the Fox lot, producing the comedy “Rookie of the Year” in 1993.
In 1995 he rejoined the Fox marketing department, again as prexy, and was promoted to vice chairman of 20th Century Fox and exec VP of FFE in 2000.
