Fox fathers ‘Child’ pitch

Studio adopts 'King' partners' 'Only' effort

Fox has decided to become a parent to “The Only Child,” preemptively buying the comedy pitch from “King of the Hill” writer-exec producers Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin for Barry Josephson to produce.

Story revolves around the coming-of-age experience of a 30-year-old man. Fox exec VP Debbie Liebling made the purchase and will shepherd for the studio while Ami Vitori will oversee the project for Josephson Entertainment.

Glarum and Jamin came on to “King of the Hill” in its fifth season as co-exec producers. They had worked previously as writer/co-producers on “Just Shoot Me” and have a pilot at HBO, “Dexter Moore Can Kiss My Ass.”

Fox-based Josephson’s a producer on the upcoming Robert De Niro thriller “Hide and Seek.” His most recent credits as a feature producer include “The Ladykillers” and “Like Mike.”
