Foster’s ‘Flight’ ready for takeoff

Schwentke to helm pic from Dowling pitch

Jodie Foster has signed on to star in the high-concept thriller “Flight Plan” for Imagine/Disney.

Robert Schwentke will direct the pic based on a pitch by Peter Dowling.

Terry Hayes and “Shattered Glass” writer-director Billy Ray subsequently penned rewrites.

Story concerns a woman who, after the death of her husband, decides to return home to America with her young daughter. While on the flight, however, the daughter mysteriously disappears.

Imagine’s Brian Grazer will produce the film, with Robert DiNozzi exec producing.

An end of August/beginning of September start is planned for the pic.

Foster last starred in “Panic Room” for Columbia Pictures. She produced and had a small role in “The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys.”
