Universal has optioned Jennifer Weiner’s upcoming novel “Little Earthquakes” to adapt into a feature Double Feature’s Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg will produce in a deal worth high-five against mid-six figures.
An adaptation of Weiner’s first novel, “In Her Shoes,” is lensing for Fox 2000 with Curtis Hanson at the helm and Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette starring.
“Earthquakes” will be published in September by Atria Books. Story concerns three pregnant women who meet in yoga class and become friends as they share the joys and pains of childbirth and motherhood.
Jenny Bicks, an exec producer on “Sex and the City,” is developing Weiner’s most recent book, “Good in Bed,” at HBO.
Exec producing “Earthquakes” are Jake Weiner, the author’s brother and manager, JC Spink and Chris Bender.
Exec VP Holly Bario is overseeing the project for Universal.
