Cinema Expo Intl. will present its Distributors of the Year award to a duo from Buena Vista Intl., exec VP of distribution and exhibition Anthony Marcoly and exec VP and general manager of Europe Stuart Salter, at the exhibition biz’s annual confab in Amsterdam in late June.
Co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser cited the division’s $1.9 billion in international box office sales last year and the “unmatched triple pack” of “Finding Nemo,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and “Bruce Almighty.”
Marcoly oversees three regional offices for 55 countries. He was instrumental in setting up a $200 million fund to acquire bigger-budget, star-driven pics for international distribution via Buena Vista Intl.
Salter has been key in the strategic positioning of BVI releases within Europe, for maintaining exhibitor relations on the Continent and expanding into Eastern Europe.
