“S.W.A.T.” helmer Clark Johnson has been hired to direct “Killing Floor” for New Line Cinema.
Adapted by John Rogers (“Catwoman”) from the novel by Lee Child, the thriller concerns an ex-military policeman who discovers corruption and danger in a tidy Southern community.
Pic reps a potential action franchise featuring the book’s protag, Jack Reacher, who solves crimes as he drifts from city to city. “Killing Floor” was the first of an eight-book Reacher series.
Mutual Film Co. principal Gary Levinsohn will produce with Kevin Messick. They’re eyeing an early 2005 production start.
Johnson’s credits include the pilot of “The Shield” and HBO’s “Boycott.”
